Review:
This is the start of a new series of books with the character DC Ffion Morgan.
I was struggling to get into this but by the end of part one, the surprise revaluation I didn’t see coming made the story pick up and suddenly the book had my full attention, it’s not however the most gripping read.
There were a couple of characters who had a score from their pasts to settle with the murdered character but they never actually moved forward on it leaving me wondering how their paths crossed and what the score they needed to settle was.
The end was an anticlimax, knowing who the murderer really was and how they got away with it is never revealed. It also never let’s the reader know what happened to the person who actually gets sent down for the murder.
I’ve read Clare Mackintosh books before and thoroughly enjoyed them, but this one didn’t quite live up to expectations, however I will be looking out for further DC Ffion Morgan novels.
