My Review
What a twist and turn thriller this is. the assumptions we are led into thinking, Em… Jodie’s daughter, the house , oh the house, evil lurks where no one is expecting. Innocences, seeing everything.
The horror movies Em writes play out in real life, using her skills from horror writing she thinks of possible scenarios to escape this hell .
Jodie paints her hellish memories onto canvas even whilst fighting her way through flames, Jodie’s head still continues to paint the picture, what colours would work best, what she would need to mix to bring the image to life. Her work sold for thousands hanging in galleries and private collections, drawing deep into the souls of those who know, who lived it.
More graphic than I expected. Quite gruesome in places. I didn’t like Mike, a weak annoying man who doesn’t seem to assess the urgency of the situation but he refuses to leave her side. Mike did however save Jodie’s life but she gives him no thanks for it, instead Jodie is annoyed with him.
Jodie a mother who is stronger than we first think.
About:
Em has lived a quiet life with her complicated mother and is now looking for love and a potential escape from her small hometown. When a masked man kidnaps her in the dark of night, though, she is drawn into a terrifying world.
Jodie has been trying to forget a troubling time in her life, pouring her trauma into her work and out of her mind. Until one night her daughter is kidnapped and Jodie is dragged back into the violence.
As Em and Jodie race into the darkness, the agony of the past rushes up to meet them. It will take all their devotion and courage to escape this night alive.
