The tension and shock I felt at the end of part 1.  I don’t think I’ve ever felt that in a book before.

Goodness by part 4 I was thinking I’d got Jamie all wrong.

But Scott has me wondering if I’ve got him wrong.  The twists keep coming.  Just when I think I’m on the right track, another conversation between characters throws a spanner on the works.

Kath , the well meaning mother in law, seems patronising, too nice.  Pushing Nedeeka towards her ex Scott.

I wasn’t expected the boss to be who he is  but it makes so much sense.  The clean up going unnoticed.   If you want information to cover something up then it’s logical to be in the thick of it, hidden in plain sight .

So many twists, just when I think I understand what is happening another dead end path is thrown up. I keep expecting things to twist again now.

The police investigation into Jamie feels intense, as if they are dogs with a bone, whilst his partner is convinced they are wrong and Jamie is an innocent victim.

But does she really know him that well? He gave up his life to move in with her, he had no possessions, she knew very little about him.

Clare’s research and knowledge of police work really flows through this book.  References to other attack’s in the UK, and the boss going from Mr Nice Guy to an evil monster who is seeking glory at any cost.  It is tense and scary. We trust people in authority but if we didn’t who would we trust? This leaves you with some worrying questions about how much people can change and how much evil can lurk in the most innocent of people.

I wasn’t expected to hear the stories of Fraser, Lauren and Needkya, my god hearing Frasers thoughts are scary and how even when someone is supposedly broken the confines of evil can still be harvested and grow
The end is worrying explosive
